Hey Doc! Yes, I adore IN A LONELY PLACE. It rides a beautiful knife's edge and plays with our emotions remarkably well. People like to call it Bogart's best screen performance, and it is hard to dispute that. Here is an example where everything came together to serve the whole, and more: screenplay, casting, acting and directing. All top notch. I discovered the film on the Criterion Channel and have watched it three times in all, once in the theater, when the lovely Chez Artiste brought it around as part of Landmark's classics series. Great stuff.
